Liquid Silicone Rubber

Vulcanization of liquid silicone

Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) stands for the production of rubber parts based on liquid silicone by vulcanization.

In our company, we combine both the technology of conventional injection molding of thermoplastics and the vulcanization of silicone into an all-integrating component. Due to its universal material properties LSR is versatile, but due to its low viscosity it requires the highest precision and many years of experience in the application. There are several challenges that need to be addressed. On the one hand, the fact that heat must be removed from the mold when using a thermoplastic when at the same time that heat must be supplied to a silicone for cross-linking, requires special sensitivity. On the other hand, especially in the field of highly complex hybrid parts in the electrical engineering industry often the vulcanization of seals on components as liquid silicone is required. In addition, melting fins may have to be integrated, which homogeneously bond with the plastic component.

We face these challenges and master the entire process chain seamlessly. Among other things, a detailed cylinder module adapted to the in-house injection molding machine ensures the required component quality and enables the production of complete assemblies as well as ready-to-use prototype parts such as plugs, control covers and electronic switches.
